This activity is designed to help students understanding how to determine if a quadrilateral is a parallelogram.
Students analyze the cards and sort them into 2 groups: those that can be proven parallelograms and those that cannot. Some parallelograms are obvious but other need some thinking (i.e, opposite sides are parallel because alternate interior angles are congruent the sides).
Included in the package
- 18 quadrilateral cards (9 to a page)
- 2 Student Response pages
- 2 Student Resource pages
- Bell Work
- Quick Check for Understanding
- Homework Alternative
- Writing in Math Exercise
Give each student a card as they come in. They glue them to a half sheet of construction paper and state whether the quadrilateral is a parallelogram and explain why or why not.
