--------------

In this Spread of Islam lesson, students will understand 5 major reasons that contributed to the spread of Islam throughout Arabia, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the rest of the world.

Students can work individually on this assignment or in groups - both are acceptable. Students will first read "Five Reasons to Explain the Spread of Islam" to understand the five major reasons. They will then take their "Explaining the Spread of Islam" bubble and create a map off it.

Two versions have been included -- either an already created graphic organizer or the center bubble of student-made bubble map! This bubble will be their first and will be in the center of their map. They should have 5 bubbles immediately touching this one (the 5 major reasons to explain the spread of Islam). Students should then create additional bubbles off of the 5 major categories, listing other relevant and important information that helps explain how Islam spread. A final writing prompt is included!

✩ This resource also includes an interactive, Google 1:1 version that allows students to type directly into the document!

This is a very popular activity in my classroom, especially with my visual learners. They enjoy creating the map and it provides an excellent visual aid!

Enjoy!
