A great way to introduce the fundamentals of Islamic architecture to your students! These documents provide information from the British Museum, which lists and explains specific details on key components of Islamic architecture (dome, minarets, arches, calligraphy, arabesques, etc.). It also features pictures that give close-up examples of these details.
I copy this so that it uses one sheet of paper (front/back) for my seventh grade art class, studying world architecture. It is an introduction for an art project based on Islamic architecture.
**UPDATED FILE---Now a ZIP file containing the two-page overview of Islamic architecture in both Word and PDF formats. BONUS: A student reflection/response sheet that correlates with a clay carving project incorporating Islamic architecture.
Please check out my store for additional overviews for your elementary and middle school art classes. Don't forget to leave feedback! :)
