This is a journal with writing prompts to go along with reading this Scott O'dell novel. I tried to hit on some of the common themes that show up throughout the novel. As students respond, I have them write down specific pages numbers and passages/lines that prove what they think. It is nice to use this as a reference for students to go back to text pages and passages for whole or small group discussions.
*Note: When you make copies, you need to flip every other paper upside down so that they copy front/back appropriately. In the end you put the 4 front/back pages together, fold it in half, and staple once or twice in the middle of the fold so that it looks like a book.
