Thirty engaging questions of varying levels of difficulty for students to answer to review important concepts and events in Scott O'Dell's "Island of the Blue Dolphins."
Included with this set are a set of answer cards so students can self-check upon completion. Also, an answer recording sheet is included. A blank page of task card boxes is provided for you to create any additional questions.
I like to use the cards to play a whole-class game of scoot. Each student gets two minutes to answer each question. One desk is designated the timekeeper and flips a two-minute egg timer each time positions are switched, allowing many students to play the role of timekeeper. There are also a few "free space" cards that link back to an event in the story. These are great for allowing breaks, especially for those students who need this particular accommodation. At the end I like for students to come together i small groups to discuss their answers before providing an answer sheet to check. These cards can also be used in a literacy center for small groups.
If you find any errors please let me know and I will be happy to update the file. Thanks!
