CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.K.2d Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words.
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.1.2c Isolate and pronounce initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes).
This activity is perfect for kindergarten and first grade (meets the CCSS) and would be a great intervention for a struggling second grader.
When we review our phonemes, my students are struggling hearing and isolating the ending sound in words so I came up with this center activity to help them differentiate the ending sound. I plan to use this activity during Daily 5 Word Work.
Included in this unit are:
-15 color mats (in color & b&w)-
-60 sorting cards (4 per ending sound)-(in color and b&w)
-directions and rationale-
I really tried to make this an easy center to prepare as I know how busy we all are this time of year so the mats only need to be printed and laminated (if desired) - no cutting needed - and the sorting cards can all be cut quickly using a paper cutter.
Please check out the preview as it is very detailed as to how this sorting center works. If you do any kind of sorts in your classroom already, this product will take you very little time to teach to the kids.
Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions whatsoever....I'd be glad to help!
