Italian Renaissance Painters: Giotto is a short story about the life of Giotto di Bondone (1266 – 1337), an Italian painter and architect who lived in Florence during the late Middle Ages. He is also generally considered to be the first in a series of great artists who contributed to the Italian Renaissance. This account of his life is part of a larger collection of stories by Amy Steedman called The Knights of Art, which itself is based on an earlier work by Giorgio Vasari titled The Lives of the Painters.
The story about Giotto has been edited for the classroom and includes interesting anecdotes that bring this Italian Renaissance painter to life, along with an example of one of the works for which he is famous.
