Italian Renaissance Painters: Leonardo da Vinci is a short story about the life of Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci (1452 – 1519) who, perhaps more than any other figure, epitomized the humanist ideal of the Italian Renaissance. With both a tremendous curiosity and imagination, he is widely considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time, and the most diversely talented person to ever have lived. This account of his life is part of a larger collection of stories by Amy Steedman called The Knights of Art, which itself is based on an earlier work by Giorgio Vasari titled The Lives of the Painters.
The story about Leonardo da Vinci has been edited for the classroom and includes interesting anecdotes that bring this Italian Renaissance painter to life, along with the painting of the Mona Lisa, one of the works for which he is famous.
