Italian Renaissance Painters: Raphael is a short story about the life of Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino (1483 – 1520) who, together with Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, is considered one of the great masters of the Italian Renaissance. Better known simply as Raphael, this account of his life is part of a larger collection of stories by Amy Steedman called The Knights of Art, which itself is based on an earlier work by Giorgio Vasari titled The Lives of the Painters.
The story about Raphael has been edited for the classroom and includes interesting anecdotes that bring this Italian Renaissance painter to life, along with an example of one of the works for which he is famous.
