Italics Fluency Strips: Do your students ever ignore words written in italics without altering their voice intonation? I have worked with readers in grades 3-5, and it's a common occurrence. Therefore, I developed italics sentence strips to provide students with an independent (or partner) activity that focuses on improving this reading behavior.
One thousand sentence strips are included in this bundle of resources. Each strip contains a word in italics so that students can practice the important reading behavior of stressing words that are in italics. Furthermore, each strip contains at least one Fry word (featuring words 1-1,000).
It also includes directions and an explanation page for teachers. A recording sheet is included, as well, making it simple to track which set each student is practicing at a given time.
They are perfect additions to your fluency center! Open the PREVIEW and take a look!
