"It's Called Narnia, Come and See" is a versatile dramatic piece based on the classical literature, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe written by C.S. Lewis. It can be read as Reader's Theatre or performed as a play with two scenes. Each scene can stand alone as a 15 minute short play. It can be performed with a cast of 15-40. Additional parts can be made by expanding the tree chorus in the first scene and in the second scene adding statues and animals at the squirrel's party in the forest. The classical Christian school where I teach celebrates and promotes the arts as a necessary component in a child's development. Our third graders have had great fun performing this for seven years. This is the culminating activity of our novel study of the book, and we invite parents and friends in to enjoy the performance. Costumes make a world of difference in performing with third graders. The characters come alive with this built in confidence booster. The last page of this script includes pictures of our simple costuming.
