It’s Easter time! Let’s Clip Shadows provides children the opportunity to practice and master the concepts of objects and their shadows and also practice matching and discrimination as well as comparing and contrasting skills while having fun. Fine motor control is also promoted as by clipping, finger muscles are strengthened.
Children develop their reasoning, comparison, and visual discrimination skills by matching a full color picture to its all black shadow. To do so children have to focus on the outline of the objects and its shape in order to find the colored match. This skill they practice is very important and essential as they will need it in identifying letters, numbers and shapes later on.
The activity is intended for preschool but it can be used with older children as well according to individual needs. It fits perfectly in a Montessori classroom and can also be used by Special Education and homeschooling.
You can either print, cut and laminate the cards and then ask the children to use clothespins to pin the correct answer or as a different exercise you can just laminate the page and use it with white board markers. Children can just circle the correct answer!
There are 18 cards of 18 Easter pictures and their shadows.
Children have to find and clip the shadow that matches the colored picture on the first row.
