This lesson is based off the book It’s Hard To Be A Verb written by Julia Cook.
***The book is NOT included and can be purchased from amazon.com or BoysTownPress.org.
Lesson Topic: Pragmatic skills – Focusing
Lesson Grades: K-8
Lesson Ideas: When using the activity, first read the book together. Refer to the student handout after reading the book to discuss the 3 different tools you can use to help with focus. Have the students fill out the comprehension activity (level 1 or 2 depending on their cognitive abilities).
Students can then develop their own nag board for a specific routine that they have trouble completing independently (e.g. getting ready for school, lunch time, etc.). You can even laminate the nag board and use dry erase markers to use it over and over.
Hope this lesson helps:)
