There are two teaching powerpoints. One for teaching time to the hour, and the other for teaching time to the half hour. The third file contains some suggested books for teaching the concept of time through literacy along with anchor charts for teaching vocabulary relevant to teaching time. There are seven 'centers' that can be used in small group or whole group.
1.) It's Time for Puzzles: Students will assemble each 4 piece puzzle based on the time featured in the pictures. (Time to the hour & half hour)
2.) It's Time for Writing with Analog & Digital Clocks: Students will read story problems and record the times in both analog and digital clock faces. (Time to the hour & half hour)
3.) It's Time for Read, Listen & Switch: *whole group activity* Students will partner to read both analog and digital clocks (Time to the hour & half hour)
4.) It's Time for Roll & Cover: Students will roll an 'analog clock' die and match that to a digital clock during a game of roll and cover.
5.) It's Time for Analog/Digital Match: Students will read a digital clock and provide the time on an analog clock frame.
6.) It's Time for Bingo: Students will review telling time to the hour and half hour with this bingo game.
7.) It's Time for a Board Game: Students will draw cards with analog clocks and tell the correct time in order to continue forward progress in the game. *answer key provided*
Last but not least, I've included a craftivity to go along with the book 'The Grouchy Ladybug'.
This pack is aligned to 1.MD.B.3: Tell time and write time in hours and half-hours using analog and digital clocks.
It is most appropriate for firsties, but...a class of high kinders, or a remedial group of seconds could benefit from the versatility in this pack.
I'd love to get feedback from you and hear how it worked with your learners! :)
