As educators, we know that comprehending informational text can be challenging for most students. This unit provides multiple opportunities for your students to interact with informational text in a fun and concrete way. In addition, it provides the students a connection with the real world by them engaging in research through the use of technology!
This unit of study involves a 4-week study of insects.
The topics are as follows:
Topic #1: Killer Bees (Week 1)
Topic #2: What is a Butterfly? (Week 2)
Topic # 3: Ladybug Anatomy (Week 3)
Topic # 4: Eating Bugs (A student Favorite!!) (Week 4)
Each topic includes:
- Informational Text Articles.
- Common Core Aligned Comprehension Questions.
- Real World Internet Investigation Activities.
- Graphic Organizers [Venn Diagram, Life Cycle (Sequencing), Cause-Effect, Problem-Solution]
- Extensive Brief Constructed Responses base on Graphic Organizer notations.
