After reading and singing "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" by Iza Trapani. I lead the students in a discussion of other funny places the spider could climb. Using the printable, students fill in the word "The" (sight word) and "spider" (monthly vocab word) and then either dictate or use emergent spelling to fill out the ending of the sentence with a new funny location of their choice. Students draw a picture of the new location. I usually give them a small spider sticker to place on their picture. If you don't have stickers, students can draw a spider.
