Ivan The Remarkable True Story of the Shopping Mall Gorilla by Katherine Applegate is a narrative non-fiction picture book. With a variety of literacy activities and a flip book, this easy to use literature unit is common core aligned for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade. It was born out of the its fiction counterpart, The One and Only Ivan.

Kirsten Tulsian has 18 years of experience in elementary education. She has been a homeroom teacher for first grade, third grade, and fourth grade, as well as ESL.
