PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

California Content Standards: Music, Language and Theatre Arts.
A ready-to-teach scripted lesson about the creation and origin of Rhythm and Blues music in the south, as developed by southern slaves in Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and Tennessee. Students listen to blues, learn of hardships that inspired such songs and create their own blues song with album artwork.

This is a short lesson that can be developed further adding additional historical context and could also be paired with a lesson promoting understanding of current music, such as hip hop.
