Product Description
This high-interest research project takes a fascinating look at the world’s most powerful and influential people throughout world history - including those who are living in today’s modern world. The unit examines the concept of identity, defines the concept of power, examines the traits of powerful people, and analyzes how power and influence can be used to either improve our society or to devastate and destroy.

In the "I've Got the Power" Research Unit, students will research a person of power, analyze the influential person's identity, trace his or her rise in power, and discover if the person made a positive impact on society.

This research project aligns with the following overarching themes and concept modules frequently implemented in today’s secondary schools’ Common Core curriculum: Journeys, Survival, Cultural Identity, Power, and Self-Identity.

This project can be easily implemented in ELA, World History, and Psychology.

The "I’ve Got the Power!" Common Core Research Unit develops the conceptual modules of power and identity while also requiring students to locate relevant facts from a variety of digital resources, create their own unique (but supported) conceptual definitions of power, engage in in-depth textual analysis while extracting relevant details from a variety of sources, locating relevant quotations, and synthesizing supporting information and examples.
