Product Description
July is for Juicy Strawberries

As school winds down for the year, the strawberry season begins! This glyph gets children involved in a delicious begging to summer. Before making this glyph some discussion must happen on what food items are made from strawberries. A good activator would be tasting something made from strawberries. A science connection would be to examine the lifecycle of a strawberry plant. Do they know the flower make the fruit? Do they realize the yellow “dots” are the seeds? Look closely at a strawberry and count how many seeds are on a berry. As usually, be sure to take advantage of the glyph download from our free product, for a reminder of what to do with a completed glyph. Good books to read to activate this activity:

-The First Strawberries By: Joseph Bruchac (Good First Nation story connecting honesty within the seven teachings)
- The Watermelon Seed By: Grey Pezzol
- Everything Grows By: Raffi
- Yummy Colours By: Scholastic
- Tops and Bottoms By: Jant Stevens
- Good enough to Eat By: Lizzy Rockwill
- Rabbit Stew By: Donna Kasow
- Eating the Alphabet By: Lois Elhler
