This data sheet is designed to be used with my “Journeys First Grade Assessments”. These weekly assessments were designed specifically for the skills that we would be learning each week in our first grade Journeys lessons. I wanted something simple and quick that I could use with the whole class at one time. I also wanted something easy to track data so that I could monitor my students progress on a weekly basis. I shared it with my other First Grade colleagues and now we all use these simple assessments and data collection sheet every week!
I give the weekly Entrance Test every Monday morning before we begin our lessons. After I check each test, I quickly write the students scores on the Data Collection Sheet and I can easily see who I will need to really focus on for the week in the areas of Spelling, Grammar and High Frequency Words. I give the weekly Exit Test on Friday and, after completing the Data Collection sheet, I can easily see the students who made progress or who may still need a little help. I make note of the students who need additional help and I will address that the following week in small group.
The Journeys Assessments are quick and easy and the Data Collection Sheet makes it easy to keep track of your students progress. The Data Collection sheet is also very useful during Teacher Evaluations, Grade Level Meetings and Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings to verify student progress in your classroom. It is designed to be printed on LEGAL SIZE PAPER. Included in this freebie is the Data Collection sheet for Journeys First Grade Units 1-30. You can pick up my assessments that go along with this Data Collection Sheet in my TPT store.
