OK TEACH..LET'S HEAR YOU SING!!!
How do you use a Number Cloud to Identify the Sets of Number(s) to which any Real Number belongs? This graphic organizer allows students to place the number in the first cloud or block to which it belongs then identify all sets of Real numbers to which it belongs....by JUST FOLLOWING THE YELLOW BLOCK ROAD I have created this graphic organizer on the wall using a piece of one of the big rolls of bulletin board paper and I had the students write the numbers in the appropriate places. That was fun!!
For an eighth Grade Class I did the following activity using the number cloud.
I taped a Huge Blank Number Cloud on the wall with Bulletin Board Paper.
I put bunches of Real Numbers in a Plastic Jar.
One student would pick out a number.
I would then give to that student one of the little sticky pads. The whole sticky pad....
The student would write the number down on as many sticky notes as needed and place the number in the correct cloud.
I told the student to put the number in the first place it belonged and
"Just Follow the Yellow Block Road"
They had a Blast to say the least.
I had so many numbers that we then had teams and kept score on the board.
I had the students in one class to make a blank chart like the one included in this lesson.
The would write the number down in the chart and proceed to check the number systems to which the number belonged.
THIS WAS FUN!!!!
The students would be singing the song "Just Follow the Yellow Block Road" in the class..out of the class...in the Hall..and on the Bus!!
Thank You Mr Frank Baum for writing such an adorable "Wizard of Oz" Book!
If I were to do another lesson, I would begin by by pulling up the following website.... http://thewizardofoz.warnerbros.com/
Of Course the students would think it would be a free day while all along they would be LEARNING!!!
