This is an ingenious audio sketch in which a flustered director is casting for a reading of Jabberwocky with the most random candidates possible. Each participant steps forward to read his stanza in awkward, silly and entertaining styles. By the end, we hear the full performance with each speaker giving his all for the crowd.
The vocals are unusual and filled with aural hooks and references for the auditory learned to seize upon, enjoy and connect. The nearly 13 minutes goes through the entire poem twice, slowly at first and then all together.
Your class will enjoy the humorous interactions between the long-suffering director and his "actors" as he loses patience with their idiosyncrasies. You can provide this track for your scholars to take home and use on digital devices (either this or the companion piece, "Jabberwocky LIVE!", which is the performance only, without the auditions). Then they can come back and have fun acting out or lip syncing to the skit, all the while review and learning the poem painlessly.
This is a wonderful capstone to "The Jabberwocky Toolkit" package, also available in this store.
