The handout is for reading comprehension for the short story "Jacinto Contreras recibe su paga extraordinaria" written by Galician author, Camilo José Cela. The story takes place around Christmas. Therefore, I like reading this story with my students around Christmas time. The story has a valuable moral that makes students realize that the season is not all about gifts. They're 10 questions. Students work with a partner and then share with the class. The story is an easy reader appropriate for Novice High to Intermediate Low.

To accompany the lesson I like students to create a story board or work on a sequence chart. When I print the story boards and sequence charts, I usually print hundreds at a time because I use them quite often. They're great as an informal assessment for comprehension:
