Kindergarten kids have been learning the Jack-O Happy rhyme for decades! They love the repetitive text that allows them to read independently, and it's perfect for mastering word to word correspondence.
The activities that are possible with Jack-O are endless! My kids read and manipulate the text in the pocket chart, and make their own books at the writing table. They paint pumpkins on the easel, and the next day turn them into Jack-O-Lanterns by adding one of the faces: Happy, Sad, Sleepy, Mad.
In this set there are 3 versions of the 6 line rhyme: A version with pictures and text, one with text only, and a color version for you to use or place in the library area of your room.
There are pocket chart pictures, as well as large text to use in the pocket chart or to staple on your classroom wall.
You can graph the number of kids that painted happy, sad, sleepy, or mad, on the graphing grid provided. It's perfect as an addition to your Autumn thematic teaching unit.
My kids love Jack-O Happy as well as the other "Happy" characters!
There are 40 pages in this set.
