This is a great way to teach and reinforce base ten concepts and operations in algebraic thinking. You will provide each student with a blank hundreds board. You will be the only person looking at the Legend. When you are asking students to color a square according to the legend, you will give clues as to what the number is, for example you might say: Color the number brown that is a single digit number that falls between 4 and 6. Or: Color the number orange that is ten more than 5. Or: 10 less than 25. Or: Color the number black that has a 4 in the tens place and a 7 in the ones place. Or: Color the number orange that is the sum of 10+10+10. The possibilities are only limited to your imagination. What a surprise when the students begin to see a picture on their hundreds boards! So Easy and So Fun! Your students won't even realize they are learning!
