Students read through the story of Jack and the Beanstalk which has been divided into sections each containing an addition, subtraction, multiplication or division question. Students underline key vocabulary words, answer the math question and then sort the underlined vocabulary in a chart depending on whether or not the word is a clue towards addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. This is a good activity for preparing students to tackle word problems. This activity consists of 20 questions.
Metric units have been used but they can easily be changed.
