In this packet, you will find three versions of a readers’ theatre for the fairytale, “Jack and the Beanstalk.”
The first version is great for your advanced readers or on-level readers. The text is about on a 2.0-2.4 reading level.
The second version is designed for students who read on about a 1.7-1.9 level. It is almost the same as the first but with fewer difficult words.
The third version is designed for students who read on about a 1.3-1.6 level. It has simple vocabulary and is much shorter. The text is repetitive. The print is also bigger.
The reading levels mentioned above are estimates. We as teachers know our students and what would be just right for them. Script 2 may be just right for some students’ instructional level but not their independent level. There are 3 levels of difficulty so all students needs can be met.
Included in this packet are character cutouts that can be used for puppets. Just laminate and tape a Popsicle stick on the backs. This way, one or two readers can act out the story with the puppets and it can be used as a literacy station.
There are lots of ways to use this packet. I hope your class enjoys it.
