This adorable Jack-o-lantern paper bag puppet with companion "I'm a Little Pumpkin" poem is a fantastic and festive small-group (kindergarten) or whole-group (1st grade) activity! Parents love helping with this too!
The included poem is a new one I wrote to be read (or sung) while using the puppet. This poem can be enjoyed throughout the month of October and blacklines are included so students can attach the poem to the backs of their puppets! Also included is an enlarged version of the poem so you can print on cardstock, tape together, and use it to teach students! My students love to pretend THEY are Jack-o-lanterns and point to their own noses, eyes, and grin when reciting the poem!
In all, SIX blacklines are included:
1 Blackline of printed poem, with place for student’s name. Just print and trim.
(Students glue this to back of paper bag.)
3 Blacklines of enlarged poem for teaching students.
Print on cardstock, tape together, and display.
(Students can pretend they are Jack-o’-lanterns as
they say the poem and point to their own nose, eyes,
and grin. Fun to practice during October!)
2 Blacklines of jack-o’-lanterns.
(Two versions provide ability to adjust duration.)
- Version 1: no coloring necessary
- Version 2: before cutting, color eyes, nose, and mouth black.
I hope you and your students enjoy this!
