The Jackdaw is a bird who collects items to create their nest from. They like to use anything, particularly shiny things. I have used and adapted this plan over the years from others I have seen or used. I usually use this as a final project for a novel. Students create a nest of objects that represent some element of the story and present their creation in class. I usually provide a maker's space with objects they can use to create things. I have the students present and defend their project and usually have 5-6 students in the audience who get a person to observe and evaluate. Takes probably 2 days to complete this, maybe 3 if your class is larger.
