This biography resource is an informational reading and writing unit for upper elementary students.
The two reading passages are chronological:
Part 1 “Young Jackie Robinson” and Part 2 “Jackie Robinson, Professional Athlete”.
Each text has:
---a page of questions (inference, factual, and opinion) and
--- a page of vocabulary and language use work and a short creative writing assignment. Also included:
---a one-page cloze activity using the twelve vocabulary words from Parts 1 and 2 (introduced in the work sheet for each part) and
---a “words within words” puzzle in which students find words within the phrase “Major League Player” and includes a couple of student challenges.
All of the student work pages and the puzzle have answer keys.
