In honor of Martin Luther King Day, here is a writing and vocabulary activity about desegregation and Jackie Robinson!
Students are to identify some of Jackie Robinson's values in his letter to Dwight D. Eisenhower about Desegregation and patience. Then, they are to write an explanatory constructed response paragraph about the purpose of the letter. There is an outline of how to write their explanatory paragraph to make it easy to grade and read.
Also, there is some good vocabulary words within Jackie Robinson's letter to the president. There are 5 vocabulary words and questions for students to analyze and respond to about the vocabulary within his letter. The 5 different vocabulary words are boxed with questions in their own sections using different fonts, so students can know when they are on a new word. Also, there are several articles about reading comprehension and using different fonts in worksheets that help students retain more information.
