My students loved this short story. It's a police story with a big twist at the end of the story. It also ties in nicely with my Argentina unit because it names Plaza de Mayo and also mentions other cultural elements of Argentina.
I like to use Google Earth to show students where Argentina is located and then I zoom into Plaza de Mayo. Nice way to make connections to geography prior to reading the story.
I also like to pre-teach vocabulary and remind students of regional dialects. Students can read aloud with the class or in pairs. Afterwards I toss a ball and ask questions for the story. Students are eager to answer because they want the ball!
PPT is a great tool to review the story. In addition, the grammar worksheet reviews the story as well as the Preterit and Imperfect.
Lastly I quiz the students on the story. I use the packet as a review and then delete sentences and re-use as a quiz. To copy text and delete sentences simply go to copy, select all, paste then delete sentences to make a shorter quiz.
