Pages 3-5: Amazing Word Cards
Pages 6-10: Spelling Word and Challenge Word Cards
Pages 11-13: Word Wise (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students choose and write seven word card words. Write sentences using the words. List other words with the same vowel pattern.
Pages 14-16: Word Work: (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students say and write ten word card words and come up with a rhyming word for each one. They must write a four- or eight- line rhyming poem using the words.
Pages 17-18: Let’s Write! (I hang up the letter to the editor poster to help students remember what a letter to the editor is). Students write a free verse poem about your first time in a new place. Use expressive words and imaginative details.
Pages 19-21: Words To Know: (I print the word cards out and laminate them). Students choose and write seven compound words from the word cards. Circle the words that form the compound words. Define the compound words and write a sentence for each one.
Page 22: Read For Meaning: Students read a Leveled Reader and write four sentences that tell the story’s order of events.
Page 23: I included a portion of I Love Saturdays y Domingos for students to read for fluency.
