This is a wonderful introduction to both James Barrie—Peter Pan—and Lewis Carroll—Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. This is a two (or more!) day unit which creates links between both authors and their works because of their stories being inspired by real life children, and both take place in wonderfully imaginative settings. Your students will love the creative activities—from creating travel brochures to both Neverland and Wonderland, to designing homes for Wendy and associates, and to extension activities which are just a link away. In both day’s lessons, I’ve included Activators, Mini Lessons, Activities, Extension Activities, Summarizers, printable activities with clip art, and overarching ELA Common Core Standards for Grade 4. Although the standard is for grade 4, pre-k up to grade 4 will devour these lessons with their level of engagement and joy in discovering classic British authors brought to life for the 21st century.
