Lesson plan and materials to study a narrative of an escaped slave, James Curry, from an 1840 edition of The Liberator.
Students are directed to map Curry's route, and consider what sacrifices were made for freedom. Includes bell ringer, discussion questions, link to completed route on Google maps, and extension activities.
Tech requirements: students will need accounts and access to Google maps, or other site where maps can be created, edited and shared. Students need to know how to locate and mark places, and how to add and edit markers.
