This is a video guide handout for, "Moments In Time: Against All Odds." 2003. I was able to find the video by searching YouTube for "Against All Odds Jamestown". I make not guarantees that the video is still available for free.
It has been my experience that if students do not have anything to do during a video, they do not pay attention. However, if you have them take notes or answer questions with written answers, they are too distracted. The purpose of a video should be to enhance learned material. I use these questions as a guide to make sure students are paying attention, but in a format that is simple enough that they are able to absorb (and enjoy!) the information in the video. All they have to do is listen for the answer and circle/highlight it. This usually keeps them on their toes!
This video is great, but please know in advance that it does mention the colonists participating in cannibalism. It is not overly graphic.
