This Clip Art set features 24 PNG images. (12 color and 12 Blackline) that will enhance your Social Studies units.
The first permanent English settlement in North America was established at Jamestown, Virginia in 1607. Several months earlier, 144 men left England for North America after being granted a charter to build a colony. The site was chosen on land that could easily be defended if attacked by natives and a triangular fort was built near the entrance to an inland river. The first colonists were poorly prepared and ill-equipped for the environment. They suffered through poor drinking water, lack of food; heat and swampy conditions in the summer; stormy, bitterly cold winters, and poor relations with the local Powatan natives. Despite the hardships of the first few years the colony survived and grew to become a permanent colony in North America.
Included in this set are images of male and female setters; a Powhatan native; the triangular fort; staple crops; bucket of fresh water; Susan Constant (ship); matchlock rifle; helmet worn by a soldier; a house in the colony; map of Virginia, and the St. George Flag in color and blacklined images.
The set will download as a zip file which is easy peasy to open! You'll then see your individual images and will be good to go!
