This is a versatile trifold/brochure that you can use how you see fit…I use it as an alternative to traditional note taking as we study Jamestown. Although brochures traditionally try to attract tourists, the reality of Jamestown may have the opposite effect!
For the section, "Come One, Come All," we discuss why each type of person came to, or was brought to Jamestown. Many English colonists felt "above manual labor" and hired indentured servants to come work in exchange for passage over the Atlantic.
Although slavery wasn't a prominent component of the early Jamestown settlement, it did develop over time as the demand for tobacco increased.
For additional fun, try the online game "Jamestown Online Adventure." Can be done as a class if you have a projector. www.history.com is a great resource for Jamestown videos.
