Product Description
This activity uses two documents and an essay prompt to encourage students to think deeper about the similarities and differences in the Jamestown and Plymouth colonies. The documents are excerpts from A Historie of Virginia, (“starving time”) by John Smith and Of Plymouth Plantation by William Bradford. These are suggested by the TNCore standards for use with TN Standards 8.2 and 8.3, but are generic enough for use in any state, especially those that use Common Core. The prompt includes instructions for a close-read group activity and requires the students to include text evidence to support their ideas.
