This is a seven-lesson unit by Reading Through History. It includes lessons about the Roanoke Colony, Jamestown, Pocahontas, John Smith, John Rolfe, slavery in Jamestown and the Powhatan Uprising, and the other Southern Colonies. Each of the lessons are followed up by three pages of student activities to gauge reading comprehension, content retention, and vocabulary skills. Each lesson also has a student response essay question. There is enough material to cover 4-7 days of class, depending on if one or two lessons are completed in a period.
