I don't try to supply any one definitive answer to questions about Jane Austen's position on women's rights issues. My intention is to present a sensible selection of carefully researched and reasoned approaches. I hope that one is left with an impression of how important she was as a writer in general as well as of her contribution to great literature as a woman.
