January Lesson Plans Series I (Four 5-day Units)

Now that a New Year has begun, we want to start January with fun ideas about winter themes, like snowmen and snowflakes. We will also learn all about opposites and explore different types of transportation. The four weekly themes are as follows:
Week One Snowmen and Snowflakes
We will start the month off exploring snow and snowflakes. The children will enjoy making an indoor snowman and have fun creating different things for the snow theme.
Day 1: Frosty Friends Day
Day 2: Letter M Day
Day 3: Let It Snow Day
Day 4: Number 7 Day
Day 5: Doctor Day
Week Two- Winter Welcome Preschool Lesson
This week we will discuss the weather changes this time of year. We will introduce a weather calendar and have fun dressing up for winter. We will also spend a day exploring ice.
Day 1: Winter Changes Day
Day 2: Letter N Day
Day 3: Winter Wear Day
Day 4: Black and White Day
Day 5: Cold as Ice Day
Week Three - Opposites
Opposite’s week will expose the children to opposite concepts, such as in and out, up and down, and over and under. We will also have fun learning about opposite directions like left and right and forward and back.
Day 1: Opposites Attract Day
Day 2: Letter O Day
Day 3: Over and Under Day
Day 4: Oval Day
Day 5: Opposite Directions Day
Week Four - Transportation
January Preschool will be a fun week of learning all about transportation. We will learn the many ways to get from here to there. Topics include land, sea, air and space travel.
Day 1: Here to There Day
Day 2: M, N, O and #7 Review Day
Day 3: Land and Sea Travel Day
Day 4: Air Travel Day
Day 5: Space Travel Day
