This product includes two literacy and two math activities for the month of January. All activities are winter themed. Each activity includes colored and black-and-white card options as well as differentiated recording sheets. All cards will need to be printed, laminated for durability, cut-out, and placed in a winter-themed sensory bin or table. Some items I have used are: cotton balls, rice, blue and white pom-poms, and foam snowflakes.
-Snowball first sound identification - students pick a card with a picture on it and then either color or write the letter that makes the first sound on their recording sheet.
-Mitten letter identification or word building - students pick a card, name the letter and sound and write it on their recording sheet. There are also recording sheets where students pick a card and build a word in the -ag or -an word family.
-Mitten real and nonsense words - students pick a card, read the word and record it under the real or nonsense word column.
-Snowflake Numbers - students pick a card and follow the directions on their recording sheet. There are many options available here. Students either color the number they pick; write the number they pick; pick two cards, compare the numbers and write the greater number; pick a card, write the number and draw that many snowflakes; or pick two cards, compare the numbers, write the greater number and draw that many snowflakes.
-Earmuff Addition - students pick a card and either add the counters or numbers and record their equation on a recording sheet.
NOTE: I will be adding my sensory bin activities to a growing bundle and you can find that here:
