Roll, Read, Write January contains January-themed, PRINT & GO dice games that kids will love. It keeps them practicing reading and working together as well as having tons of fun!
A take-off on the popular game Roll, Say, Keep! This download includes two versions of Roll, Read, Write. The words included in this game work wonderfully with the activities taking place in January. Start here and use them as a take off for many other writing activities! Instructions for play and other useful strategies included.
The basic idea is that students roll a die and then take action on the word that is assigned to the number they rolled.
*Version 1 has 4 reproducible game cards. These cards can be switched out each week for practice with new words OR may be used all at once for a longer lasting game. Player rolls the die, reads the word and then traces the word on the number if they read it correctly.
*Version 2 has 1 game board, 24 word cards, and a recording sheet. Word cards are placed on the game board, face down. Player rolls the die, flips the card on the corresponding number and reads it. If read correctly the player writes the word on his or her recording sheet. If not, player returns the card and play goes to the next player.
Word guide with pictures help young/struggling readers (don't use the word guide for more advanced readers) and glasses props add to the fun of this activity.
This Download includes:
Instruction sheets for each game (2 total)
6 reproducible game boards (5 for version 1, 1 for version 2)
24 word cards (for version 2)
