This year I needed a way to keep my students focused and on task while I taught small groups, so I create this pack of engaging and meaningful monthly writing organizers and prompts. The students work on these prompts during writing time, rotation time, or free choice time. I provide a variety of organizers and prompt pages in my writing stations, and the students choose what they would like to work on. Students never get bored with the same writing topics since these are set out for the month of January only. Each prompt has an organizer, a page with a space for a picture and a half page to write on, and a second full page to continue their writing on. All of the pages that go together coordinate with the same clipart in the bottom corner, which makes it easier for you to print and organize. The writing pages come in intermediate and primary lines for your students' needs.
After students complete their organizers, I have them use lined writing paper to write their rough drafts. After they complete their rough drafts, they use the editing checklists (included) to make corrections to their writing, then they have a classmate edit their drafts. Last, they use the coordinating lined pages to write their final drafts.
