A complete lesson looking at the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami as a case study of a natural disaster in a highly developed country.
The resource consists of PowerPoint, which gives a structure to the lesson and suggested activities such as the tsunami memory game It includes a detailed double sided A3 worksheet for students fill in from the documentary 'Japan Earthquake - A Horizon Special'. However, students could also complete it using their own research if the documentary is not available.
Students could fill in the whole fact file individually, or they could each fill in a part and then share their information. Or they could work in groups. This is a great resource for visual learners.
The files are editable so you can tailor them to suit your syllabus/students.
Please check out my lesson on Haiti for a contrasting case study of an earthquake in a less developed country. https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Haiti-Earthquake-Lesson-806241
