This resource includes reading passages and activities about the language and alphabet (writing system) of Japan. It would be a perfect addition to a more extensive unit on Japan.
The first text, two pages in length, is about the language (history and modern use) of Japan. It is accompanied by a short activity about Japanese words that are used in English as well as a page of vocabulary work and a page of comprehension and opinion questions.
The second text, about the Japanese alphabet and system of writing, is one page in length and has a one page student work page (vocabulary and questions). Each text is illustrated.
Please check the preview to make sure this is suitable for the grade level you are teaching!
