Students complete a variety of engaging activities as they research the geography and culture of Japan. Information is shared using interactive project templates that create an organized final presentation. (Updated 2018)
Activities include:
Maps: (world, continent, country) labeling maps; creating a compass rose and a map key
Quick Facts: creating a fact wheel with stats for the population, area, products, climate, and currency
Flag: coloring a sample flag; writing a description of what the colors and symbols represent
Language: making flip cards of common words/phrases
Food: planning a menu for a day
Sports: naming sports/activities that are popular
Animals: identifying and classifying by species; making a pocket for animal strips
Clothing: illustrating (or constructing) traditional clothing for paper dolls
Influential People: highlighting individuals inside picture frames and writing about their contribution(s)
Holidays & Celebrations: completing Save the Date cards and describing the traditions of special events
Explore Further Activity Choices: preparing a recipe, sharing a folktale, creating a brochure for tourists, and more.
