This lesson teaches students all about the religion of Japan during he Nara and Heian Periods including Buddhism and Shintoism. This lesson includes bell work, and objective, a lesson about Buddhism and Shintoism in Japan, and a fun final activity. Students will work in groups of two. One will read about Buddhism and the other about Shintoism (both articles are the last 2 slides of the PowerPoint). They will pull out facts from the article individually and then teach each other about the religion they read about. For a final challenge, they will create a Venn Diagram to see how these two religions are similar. This lesson is amazing and would be great for an evaluation. It was designed for 6th-10th graders.
